WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1—MORNING TOUR OF THE FALLS AND ELEPHANT INTERACTION

     (Continued)

¨ Transfer to your stunning lunch spot at Thorntree Island. In the middle of the river, Thorntree Island provides the perfect location for a sumptuous buffet ‘bush’ luncheon set exclusively for MDC. Acclaimed as the most beautiful, uninhabited stretch of the entire Zambezi, savor the sounds of Africa. Sitting at a properly laid table you’re in total harmony with nature as you savor your lunch and gaze at the unique setting surrounding you.

¨ Small boats provide transportation across the river to the shore and some extra guests—elephants.

¨ Get up close and personal with Africa’s giants! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to understand this mighty beast’s incredible intelligence and willingness to act under instruction. You are encouraged by your guide to interact with the elephants to gain better insight into these fascinating creatures. An exciting and exhilarating experience to add to your African memories!

¨ Return to the Lodge for the balance of the afternoon at leisure to relax by the pool.

¨ Dinner at the Lodge.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2—OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES

¨ Breakfast at the Lodge.

¨ Free time to partake in array of exciting optional activities available in the Victoria Falls area. Choose from Elephant Back Safaris, Bunjee Jumping, Zambezi Horseback Safaris, Gorge Swing, and Flight of Angels. Or, spend some time in the local market shopping for wonderful souvenirs to take home and share or keep as special memories for yourself. Details and pricing will be provided prior to departure from the USA.

¨ Lunch on own

¨ Farewell African dinner at Gwembe Village.

¨ The sun has set and beneath a blanket of stars you arrive at the village of Gwembe. Lanterns and firelight greet you while the village men and women dance, clap, sing songs of welcome and usher you into their humble village, offering you a chitenge (tribal gown) to wear. The Chief’s Courtier greets and invites you to see the simple dwellings of the Chief’s people, allowing you a glimpse of the traditional way of African village life. The Chief’s Courtier will briefly explain the ways of village life while the village ladies serve snacks of special African delicacies.

¨ Africa is the Drum Continent of the world and drumming is the most fundamental way of celebrating success, preparing for battle, or relaxing. An interactive drumming session precedes dinner with two facilitators who will instruct you in hand movements and drum beating. Soon, all will be beating to the sound and evolving into different drum patterns of beats for different sections of the group...creating a tapestry of individual, yet complimentary sounds woven together!

¨ From beyond the firelight, the sounds of African Marimbas strike up delightful rhythms and tunes. Dinner is three courses and composed of a delightful array of truly tasty traditional fare. Of course, the villagers will not allow for an evening without entertainment and will sing and dance during the night, often inviting you to join them.

¨ Seated around the fire, soak in the stars, the night sounds of the village and indulge in the idle chatter of your MDC companions. This is how it has been for thousands of years and it is a truly African experience.
