THURSDAY, AUGUST 26—JOHANNESBURG ¨ Day of leisure for exploring and shopping. ¨ MDC Welcome Dinner...a truly African experience on Nelson Mandela Square. Africa’s dining room, “Lekgotla” –The Meeting Place offers a unique opportunity to experience a fusion of exotic flavors and foods from the African continent. Rhythmic drumming beckons diners to two “gotla’s” or huts created by Trevor Julius of DSGN Design, one of South Africa’s top designers. Inguni hides pave the way blending Moroccan style walls with stone ruins to create a chic African setting. From Morocco to Mozambique, guided by culinary extraordinaire Garth Schnier, former Captain of the South African Olympic Chefs Team, you can look forward to a taste of adventure through Africa.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 27—DEPART JOHANNESBURG / ARRIVAL IN BOTSWANA¨ Breakfast at the hotel and check out. ¨ Transfer to Johannesburg Airport for a morning flight to Kasane. (A light snack will be served on this 2 hour and 20 minute flight.) ¨ Arrival at Kasane. Enjoy transfer by private coach to the Chobe Game Lodge. ¨ Lunch will be served at the Lodge prior to check in. ¨ Time for a short nap or to explore your surroundings. ¨ Late afternoon Game Cruise on the Chobe River. The Chobe is a lifeline for abundant wildlife, including the largest elephant herds in Africa. Embark on an unforgettable game cruise to encounter herds of mighty elephant, buffalo, wallowing hippo, lion, leopard, giraffe, or an array of antelope returning to the Chobe River to quench their thirst. This is the Africa you have come to see! ¨ Dinner served at the Lodge’s restaurant.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 28—ON SAFARI!¨ Sunrise Safari Drive in the Chobe National Park. As the African day dawns, its time for close encounters of the natural kind! In open 4X4 vehicles, a menagerie of wildlife will excite your senses! An encounter with Africa’s awesome foursome (elephant, leopard, lion and buffalo) is definitely in the cards! ¨ Next to the Okavango Delta, Chobe National Park is probably Botswana’s next most well known conservation area. The Park is best known for its concentrations of elephant-some 120,000 individuals, along with large numbers of buffalo, antelope and predators. You may see many of the major species of Chobe: giraffe, elephant, zebra, impala, sable, wildebeest, kudu, buffalo, waterbuck, warthog, eland and accompanying predators including lion, hyena, jackal, bat-eared fox and possibly even cheetah and wild dog. ¨ Breakfast is served in the Lodge’s restaurant upon return from the safari. ¨ Morning at leisure. ¨ Time to enjoy a game of golf on Mowana's nine-hole course (transfers required), take a makoro (traditional dug out canoes used for fishing) trip in the nearby Kasai channels, or perhaps try your hand at fishing for the famed predator, the tiger fish! ¨ Lunch is served at the Lodge. ¨ Early Afternoon at leisure. Time to relax by the swimming pool or have a snooze in air-conditioned comfort! ¨ Sunset Game Cruise on The Chobe River. ¨ Dinner is served at the Lodge. |
